Vice President of Finance/Accounting

The Vice President of Finance (VP of Finance) serves as a key executive leadership team member, responsible for the strategic financial management and stewardship of the credit union’s financial operations. This role oversees financial planning and analysis, budgeting, asset-liability management (ALM), treasury functions, accounting operations, and regulatory compliance. The VP of Finance will ensure the integrity, accuracy, and transparency of financial reporting while driving financial strategies that support the credit union’s long-term growth, stability, and mission of serving members.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

  • Lead the development and execution of short- and long-term financial strategies aligned with the credit union’s mission, vision, and business goals.
  • Advise the CEO, Board of Directors, and executive team on financial planning, investment strategies, risk management, and business growth opportunities.
  • Support and influence strategic decision-making with data-driven financial modeling and scenario analysis.
  • Direct all accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and month-end/year-end close processes.
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and regulatory requirements (e.g., NCUA, CFPB).
  • Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and board reporting packages.
  • Manage liquidity, interest rate risk, and balance sheet optimization through effective ALM practices.
  • Develop and monitor investment strategies that maximize returns within the credit union’s risk tolerance and policy framework.
  • Participate in setting loan/deposit rates.
  • Assist/serve as trustee of the credit union’s 401K plan.
  • Help/develop, perform, and oversee various internal audit procedures, i.e., cash counts, teller drawer audits, review of employee accounts, loan documentation, wire transfers, etc.
  • Oversee cash flow management and funding strategies to ensure operational and lending liquidity.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state financial regulations and internal policies.
  • Serve as liaison with external auditors, examiners, and regulatory agencies; coordinate annual audits and regulatory exams.
  • Directly or through subordinates, oversee and manage the financial and accounting functions of
  • the credit union to include: ALM, CECL, AP, AR, budgets, collections, GL, financial analysis, and financial
  • reporting and recordkeeping, investments, payroll, and taxes.
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks through internal controls and ongoing risk assessments.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process, including departmental collaboration and executive presentation.
  • Participate in interviewing, hiring, and training activities.
  • Track performance against budget and provide variance analysis to executive leadership and the board.
  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing finance and accounting team.
  • Hold periodic staff meetings. Identify areas for improvement, changes in procedures, new developments, or changes in services or products. Keep staff up to date on trends and general credit union information.
  • Prepare and present regular reports to the CEO and Board of Directors.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Ensure staff have access to professional development and training opportunities.

  • Occasional travel required for conferences, training, or board meetings.

Scheduled Work Hours:  

  • Full time - 40hrs
  • Primarily office-based at Snell Rd Branch with periodic travel to branch locations or industry events.
  • Occasional extended hours or weekend work may be required for major initiatives or incident response.
  • Two required all-staff training days, one in the fall and one in the spring.
  • Attendance at our Annual Membership Meeting in the spring of each year.

Vice President of Operations

 

The Vice President of Operations (VP of Operations) is a strategic and visionary leader responsible for directing and optimizing all operational aspects of the credit union, including branch operations, member services, digital banking, loan and deposit operations, compliance operations, and business process optimization. As a key executive leadership team member, the VP of Operations plays a critical role in shaping operational strategy, driving organizational performance, and ensuring exceptional service delivery to members in alignment with the credit union’s mission, values, and strategic goals.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide executive oversight and leadership of day-to-day operations, ensuring efficient, compliant, and member-focused delivery across all operational channels.
  • Develop and implement operational strategies that support the credit union’s short- and long-term goals, including scalability, digital transformation, and process automation.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives to enhance member experience, reduce operational friction, and elevate service delivery standards.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing operations team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Champion operational efficiency through implementing process improvements, workflow redesign, and integrating modern technologies and platforms.
  • Collaborate with IT and digital teams to ensure secure, scalable, and user-centric digital banking experiences.
  • Ensure operational practices comply with federal and state regulations, internal policies, and credit union industry standards (e.g., NCUA, BSA/AML, Reg E).
  • Serve as a liaison between operations and internal/external audit teams, providing guidance and oversight on remediation efforts and internal controls.
  • Design and execute member service strategies that promote loyalty, satisfaction, and engagement across all channels.
  • Utilize member feedback, data analytics, and competitive intelligence to inform service enhancements and operational improvements.
  • Partner with fellow executive team members to align operations with organizational priorities, strategic growth, and innovation initiatives.
  • Responsible for controlling facilities costs and assisting in contract negotiations.
  • Assist/manage and recommend the purchase of equipment and supplies.
  • Hold periodic staff meetings. Identify areas for improvement, changes in procedures, new developments, or changes in services or products. Keep staff up to date on trends and general credit union information.
  • Coordinate payroll processing with the outsourced provider.
  • Monitor employee data files online, including medical leave, personal leave, vacation, benefits, promotions, and terminations. Ensure that documentation trails are complete and up to date.
  • Participate in interviewing, hiring, and training activities.
  • Prepare payroll reports on leave, sick time, vacation, and/or PTO (paid time off) usage.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Prepare and present regular reports to the CEO and Board of Directors on operational performance, risk management, and strategic initiatives.

Financial Services Representative

Having relationship-based discussions to uncover a member's financial needs will allow you to offer exceptional consumer deposit and loan product solutions.  As our Financial Services Representative, your role will function in Depository and Lending services:

Depository Services Overview:

  • Provide outstanding service by meeting and speaking with members to uncover financial needs and provide appropriate solutions utilizing products and services available within Winnebago Community Credit Union
  • Open and service deposit accounts for members or prospective members, including savings, checking, certificates, money markets, IRA, ACH, Internal Transfers, and ATM. Also, close accounts when necessary
  • Assist members with account service needs, including wire transfers, payroll deduction/direct deposit, internal transfer requests, online banking, and statement inquiries
  • Assist members in successfully resolving questions or concerns regarding their accounts with WCCU
  • Investigate and correct errors on member accounts and proactively reach out to communicate with the member
  • Address basic questions from members about mortgage loan offerings, credit cards, and other products or services and refer to specialists if needed
  • Take a need-based approach to promote all credit union products and services to help deepen the member relationship

 Lending Services Overview:

  • Interact with members through all channels, including walk-in traffic, website or mobile inquiries, and incoming calls from the phone queue
  • Understand, educate, and advise members of all Consumer Loan products available
  • Input consumer loan applications, review credit reports, perform debt ratio/collateral analysis, obtain approval if not within your own authority, process and sign loan documents with the member in person or through electronic channels, and complete files in accordance with policies and procedures
  • Offer our value-added debt protection solutions for lending products, including payment protection, GAP, and Mechanical Breakdown Coverage that help protect our members' finances in a time of need
  • Meet monthly loan volume and cross-sale goals established by WCCU

 Education and Experience:

  • Ideal candidates should possess an associate's degree or 1-2 years of relevant experience in the financial services industry, preferably in the Credit Union world; equivalent or advanced education and experience will be considered.
  • Previous sales and excellent customer experience are required
  • Software knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, Data Processing System, and hardware knowledge (driver's license scanner, scanning and copy machine, etc.)
  • Dedication to protecting the privacy and security of member and credit union data on-site and through electronic member communications

Scheduled Work Hours:  

  • Full time - 40hrs
  • The rotation schedule typically includes one Saturday morning per month to act as a lender on duty at our Witzel St or Commercial St location.  To offset, team member is given an afternoon or morning off during that work week to compensate and balance hours.
  • Ability to work at any of our three locations at times for coverage when needed
  • Two required all-staff training days, one in the fall and one in the spring
  • Attendance at our Annual Membership Meeting in the spring of each year
